Instruction on board H..S. "Cornflower" has been
divided between lectures on Seamanship, the Rule of the Road and on subjects of general interest to (ficers, and practical drills in Gun drill, boat work and signals. The latter has consisted
of sending and receiving Horse and Senaphore, recognition of flags and pendants, and simple manoeuvring signals.

Officers and Cadets whose employment has permitted have
taken the opportunity to embark in the Anti-Piracy Patrol Vessel, and occasionally for day exercises at sea in cruisers
and submarines.
Practical Filotage. With reference to paragraph 12
of Commodore Elliott's report of the 18th April 1935, the
Admiralty have approved a crew for H.. Trawler "Barnet", but,
until this arrives, it is only possible to use the ship for
training purposes when specially comissioned for other duties.
Only one opportunity for training in practical pilotage occurred
during the year under report, when the "Barnet" was commissioned
in October last. On this occasion, nearly the entire Force
enbarked and both gained valuable experience in practical navi-
gation and improved its acquaintance ship with the local waters.
In addition to this drill in the "Barnet", one exercise
at sea was arranged in the Launch "Kwong Lee", but this ship is
not suitable.
Instruction - Ratings.
9. The ratings have contimed to exercise minesweeping on
Thursday forenoons, in company with the Chinese seanen of H.M.S.
"Tanar"

On drill nights (Tuesdays and Fridays), they have been
